On the west side of the Tetons you have a different view than in the Jackson Hole side. This is the view that the first trappers, explorers and surveying parties had of the Grand. It was up Teton Canyon that the first attempt to climb the Grand Teton started out in 1871, under the leadership of Nathaniel Langford.
